zines by kids for kids

ashleigh has begun making her zine "flying kitties", and she and i made some bracelets which i am sending to sagiegirl to sell in her distro...ash wants the profits made to go towards buying cat food for the animal shelter out here -- its her summer community project...

not sure how long it is going to take ashleigh to finish the zine...she keeps wanting to change her ideas, wads up paper...i need to get her to focus a bit...i think i am going to try to get some cat magazines from freecycle and have her tell her story in part collage/part drawing...not sure how to rein her creative storytelling mind...maybe we'll just make a few mini-zines, like the small one-sheet 8-panel fold up type i did at the radical education roadshow last summer i hosted at idle kids (now called 'no borders')...this way, she can make a few of them...

kids love mail -- anyone into starting a penpal relationship with my kids?

I know Emily is only four and a half so she probably wouldn't make the best pen pal through writing right now BUT she does love art and does cfraty stuff so if you or anyone in this group wants to do some sort of kid craft/art swaps, that would be cool!

Also, after I finish up this issue of Eye Candy this weekend, we are starting on Emily's zine.

how old is she? J is 5 and he's working on a zine/comic. but I don't know if it woudl appeal to other kids. he has ideas in his head and he draws then and they're stories but to him only! ha. he mostly wants to get mail, so lets set up a trade for them.
